As a Director in Jefferson Consulting Group’s government consulting practice, Jefferson Solutions, Renée Courtland brings an in-depth understanding of the federal procurement process and policy as well as a strong track record in business development and communications. Ms. Courtland’s primary focus is on business development and servicing government clients; however, she also provides strategic counsel to Jefferson’s commercial clients in the federal market space.
Ms. Courtland came to Jefferson from Dutko Worldwide, where as a Vice President in Dutko Government Markets group for over four years, she served as Dutko’s internal subject matter expert on government management issues and led Dutko Government Markets strategic business consulting practice in the area of federal contracting to both public and private sector clients.
Before joining Dutko, Ms. Courtland held several government positions where she focused on acquisition and other public sector management issues. Most recently, Ms. Courtland served as the senior political aide and policy analyst in the acquisition policy shop within the White House’s Office of Management and Budget. While at OMB, she played a lead role in the oversight of large and interagency contracting vehicles in the areas of telecommunications and information technology. Ms. Courtland was the lead OMB analyst for both Networx and Alliant and worked closely with her counterparts on the budget side of OMB on a broad range of issues impacting the U.S. General Services Administration. Prior to OMB, she wore multiple hats while working in the Office of the Administrator at GSA, including serving on a variety of internal senior management working groups convened to address major issues facing the agency. She was also asked to take on a myriad of assignments ranging from serving as the GSA representative on a homeland security interagency working group to being the lead coordinator for GSA’s first bilateral meeting with its Canadian agency counterpart.
Ms. Courtland serves a Board Director for the National Association of Small Business Federal Contractors and through this role serves as a rotating member of The Department of Energy’s Small Business Advisory Board. In addition, she is a regular panelist and speaker at various government contracting association conferences and events and has been a regular contributor to The 1105 Groups trade publications.
Ms. Courtland enjoys volunteering abroad and supporting local philanthropic organizations. In this vein, she serves on the board of Cross-Cultural Thresholds, a non-profit that supports effective grassroots leaders in impoverished communities around the world. She also serves on an alumni committee for her alma mater, Birmingham Southern College.
