FEDERAL ACQUISITION: TODAY AND TOMORROW
An Orientation for Federal Executives

Nearly all federal executives rely on contractors to perform some aspect of the agency's mission. Their understanding of the basics of federal contracting is critical to meeting goals and objectives. Although agency contracting officials have primary responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness and integrity of the procurement process, program officials play a major (if not exclusive) role in deciding:
  • What will be bought?
  • How it will be bought?
  • From whom it will be bought?
This half-day seminar is designed to promote a basic understanding of federal contracting by:
  • Describing the principal ways the Federal Government acquires supplies and services
  • Explaining roles of program officials, contracting officers, attorneys and others in the process
  • Describing procurement reform initiatives that have significantly reduced procurement lead times and placed a greater emphasis on achieving sound outcomes.
This seminar was developed by Solutions' President, Dr. Allan Burman, former Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) and Craig Durkin, former Director of HUD's Procurement Office.

Target audience:

  • Senior program officials
  • New appointees
This course includes:
  • On-site training
  • Up to 20 participants
  • Reference materials for each participant
